International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture

VOICES OF DIVERSITY OF THE BENEFIT-SHARING FUND

A MESSAGE FOR PLANT GENETIC DIVERSITY

This videowall presents messages from a wide range of stakeholders involved in the projects funded through the Benefit-sharing Fund of the International Treaty.

The statements come from farmers, practitioners, students, researchers, breeders and policymakers from more than 25 developing countries. They share experiences in the conservation and management of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture from diverse agro-ecological settings, from lowland paddies and island cultures to dry savannah and mountainous areas. People involved in the Benefit-sharing Fund projects safeguard and use plant genetic diversity for food security, choose the crops that are adapted to harsh and changing climate conditions and share knowledge and information on the agrobiodiversity they conserve. All messages were written and recorded by the participants in the BSF programme, consciously taking the opportunity to share their insights, experiences, successes and needs.
