Understanding Farmers’ Rights – ITPGRFA Special Event [VIRTUAL]

20/11/2024 to 20/11/2024

()

20 November 2024 / 12:00 – 14:30 CET

Plant genetic diversity is crucial for sustainable agriculture allowing crops to adapt to changing environmental conditions caused by climate change ensuring global food security. Smallholder farmers and indigenous peoples and local communities (IPLCs) have been guardians of the world's plant genetic resources for millennia, playing a significant role in maintaining the biodiversity of our food crops. Through the dynamic curation of such diversity on the farm, farmers facilitate and guide the continued evolution and diversification of crops.
