International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture

International Workshop on Community Seed Banks

On September 2017, was organized the International Workshop on Community Seed Banks at FAO headquarters, Rome, Italy. This event was co-organised by the International Treaty on Plant Genetics Resources for Food and Agriculture and the Rete Semi Rurali (the Italian Seed Network) with the support of Bioversity International. For this workshop, close to 100 farmers, experts, academics, plant breeders and scientists from different regions of the world gathered to exchange differing experiences between Community Seeds Banks in “the global South” and those in “the global West”.
