Survey: your opinion about post-harvest waste of food commodities
Hybrid Event, 24/06/2016
This survey is an important part of a COMCEC Project: Reducing Post-harvest losses in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member countries. The project is managed by the Natural Resources Institute (NRI), University of Greenwich, UK. The objective of the project is to contribute to increasing the productivity and efficiency of the agriculture sector and to contribute to the food security in the OIC Member Countries by reducing post-harvest losses.
The study will present a brief overview of the current situation with regards to food losses and waste in the OIC Member Countries, estimate the extent of post-harvest losses, seek to explore the main reasons and consequences of the losses between production and consumption stages and demonstrate the ways, approaches and practices to reduce post-harvest losses.
To assist COMCEC, NRI is interested in learning about your perceptions of the magnitudes and causes of losses which occur throughout the value chain (handling, drying, storage, processing, packaging, transportation, distribution and marketing stages) for selected crops and products.
We would like to invite you to participate in a survey: a few questions about postharvest losses of selected food products in your country. It will take about 15 minutes of your time. If you are interested, please contact Professor Keith Tomlins ([email protected]) at NRI.
