Family farming is a fundamental pillar for food production, environmental sustainability, food security, and rural development in many regions of the world. For this reason, family farmers are positioned as agents of change at the center of action for the transformation of agri-food systems. In the United Nations Decade of Family Farming 2019-2028 (UNDFF), countries are urged to develop public policies and investments that support family farming and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Family farming registries are strategic for governments, as they are essential tools to ensure better targeting and investment of public resources directed towards family farmers, their production units, and their organizations, enabling greater effectiveness and efficiency in the implementation of public policies.
This course aims to share and discuss learnings that may be useful for guiding decision-makers worldwide in the construction of such tools. |
