Countries, such as Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, have already implemented strategies to facilitate the green transformation of agrifood systems.
As a guiding principle for conducting the current assessment the agrifood system approach is used. Agrifood system approach aimed at contributing to more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems, in line with the FAO Strategic Framework 2022-2031 and under the so-called “four betters” – better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life – while leaving no one behind.

Recognizing the importance of the policies and strategies towards greening agrifood systems, Kazakhstan has already adopted a number of fundamental documents laying the grounds for the further development of the country.
