Wheat Production and Regional Food Security in CIS: The Case of Belarus, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Policy Studies on Rural Transition No. 2016-1
The main objective of the study is to produce critical projections of domestic wheat production to 2024 for Belarus, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. This will allow to answer the key question as to the limits of wheat production increases in the three countries. The main methodology of the study lies in a critical appraisal of the drivers of demand and supply for wheat in Belarus, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Developing the Cold Chain in the Agrifood Sector in Sub-Saharan Africa. Agroindustry Policy Brief 2
This policy brief is based on the proceedings of the Regional workshop on the use of the cold chain in the development of agriculture and agroindustries in sub-Saharan Africa, organized in Yaoundé (Cameroon) in June 2012. The workshop brought together speakers from diverse backgrounds to analyse findings from case studies conducted in food supply chains that included meat, fruits and vegetables, fish and seafood, milk and dairy products.

This paper analyses foreign direct investment (FDI) flows in food, beverages and tobacco, including primary agriculture and retail, from 2003 to 2014. It provides information on global, regional and - where possible - national trends in FDI flows in food, beverages and tobacco. When data are available, this study also provides more detailed insights into particular qualitative traits of FDI flows, such as whether FDI seems to be market- or resource-seeking, or in how far changes in sub-sector-specific investment could be linked to changes in consumer demand. United Nations Decade of Action on Nutrition 2016-2025. Towards country-specific SMART commitments for action on nutrition
A common vision for global action to eradicate hunger and end all forms of malnutrition was defined by the ten commitments of the Rome Declaration on Nutrition and the accompanying 60 recommended policy options and strategies in its Framework for Action which were adopted at the Second International Conference on Nutrition (ICN2) in November 2014.
The next step is to translate selected policy options and strategies into country-specific commitments for action, in line with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and various regional strategic frameworks.

Women play key roles in rural economies. However, compared to men, rural women often experience greater constraints in accessing resources, services and opportunities. Brave Ndisale, Director Ad Interim of the FAO Social Policies and Rural Institutions Division together with Illaria Sisto, Gender and Development Officer explain the importance of empowering women and achieving gender equality to ensure food security and reduce rural poverty. High levels of investments are required to unleash the potential of agriculture for sustainable development and poverty reduction in developing countries, but low public budgetary allocations to the sector have slowed growth.
