Banana Market Review 2020

The Banana Market Review is issued on an annual basis to Members and Observers of the Sub-Group on Bananas of the Intergovernmental Group on Bananas and Tropical Fruits, and it offers a comprehensive overview of previous-year developments in banana trade. It is prepared by the Team on Responsible Global Value Chains, Markets and Trade Division, FAO, which provides research and analyses on global value chains for agricultural commodities, and economic data and analyses on tropical fruits.

Agribusiness as a sustainable tool to mitigate rural-urban migration of youth in Kenya

Funded through the generous contribution of the Government of Italy, the project on “Rural Youth Migration, Social Protection & Local Value Chain Development” is designed to address the root causes of rural youth out-migration by creating more and improved employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in agri-business. COVID-19 and territorial markets. Evidence from the United Republic of Tanzania

Territorial markets are essential to the livelihoods and food and nutrition security of populations. These markets are suffering multiple challenges in the current context of COVID-19 related restrictions on travel and transports and global economic slowdown. Against this background, strengthening territorial markets can support food production and access to healthy and nutritious foods. This requires a good understanding of the functioning of these markets.
