This brochure presents FAO’s work on mainstreaming biodiversity as a cross-cutting theme in the agriculture, fisheries and forestry sectors. Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue on Biodiversity Mainstreaming across Agricultural Sectors 29-31 May 2018

Together with the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), FAO is hosting the Multi-stakeholder Dialogue on Biodiversity Mainstreaming across Agricultural Sectors, to be held at FAO headquarters in Rome from 29 to 31 May 2018.  This meeting is one of the first activities of the Biodiversity Mainstreaming Platform launched last year. FAO's Work on Climate Change. United Nations Climate Change Conference 2018

The Conference of the Parties (COP) of UNFCCC is a prime opportunity to communicate FAO’s work on climate change and to liaise with potential partners, at the numerous side events and parallel events organized around the COP. This booklet seeks to raise awareness on the impacts of climate change on food security and nutrition and advocate for the importance of having the agricultural sectors properly considered in climate change mechanisms, policies and finances.

Добровольные руководящие принципы рационального использования почвенных ресурсов

Настоящие “Добровольные руководящие принципы рационального использования почвенных ресурсов” (ДРПРИПР) были выработаны в ходе подразумевающего широкое участие процесса в рамках Глобального почвенного партнерства (ГПП). Они должны стать справочным документом, содержащим общие технические и политические рекомендации в области рационального использования почвенных ресурсов (РИПР) для широкого круга приверженных своему делу заинтересованных сторон. Настоящие Добровольные принципы были приняты 4-ой с ессией Пленарной ассамблеи ГПП (Рим, 25 мая 2016 года), одобрены 25-ой сессией Комитета ФАО по сельскому хозяйству (Рим, 28 сентября 2016 года) и окончательно утверждены 155-ой сессией Совета ФАО (Рим, 5 декабря 2016 года).

Sustainable management of the fall armyworm in Africa. FAO's programme for action

FAO has prepared this Programme for Action to help support Sustainable Management of FAW in Africa. FAO works closely with its development and resource partners to maximize coordinated results and minimize duplications.  FAO proposes a five-year programme of action to help farmers, their organizations, their public institutions, national governments and development partners quickly respond the challenges of FAW infestation in smallholder farmers’ fields across Africa.

This document explores experiences with aquatic protected areas building on work presented at the IUCN World Parks Congress (WPC) held in Sydney, Australia, on 12–19 November 2014, in the context of livelihoods and food security. It includes: (i) ten papers reporting on the interface of MPA/protected areas with livelihoods and food security, based on case studies in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Oceania; (ii) an eleventh contribution providing a more general overview of MPAs and food security and how to assess their impact; and (iii) a final paper synthesizing the conclusions of the papers and discussing the observed outcomes of aquatic PAs, together with problems and solutions. Forestry for a low carbon future. Integrating forests and wood products in climate change strategies

Following the introduction, Chapter 2 provides an overview of mitigation in the forest sector, addressing the handling of forests under UNFCCC. Chapters 3 to 5 focus on forest-based mitigation options – afforestation, reforestation, REDD+ and forest management – and Chapters 6 and 7 focus on wood-product based options – wood energy and green building and furnishing.
