Guiding Principles for Responsible Contract Farming Operations

This document presents a set of guiding principles that are conducive to responsible contract farming operations. It is intended to serve as guidance for farmers and buyers engaged in contractual relationships, in order to promote good business practices and maintain an atmosphere of trust and respect that is essential if contract farming is to prove effective. This brief is a complement to other publications available on FAO’s Contract Farming Resource Centre (www.fao.org/ag/ags/contract-farming).

Developing a Climate-Smart Agriculture Strategy at the Country Level: Lessons from Recent Experience

Since the Global Conference on Climate Change, Food Security and Agriculture held at the Hague in 2010, the concept of climate-smart agriculture (CSA) has gained increasing attention at international and national levels, with several countries initiating related activities. The Second Global Plan of Action for Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture was adopted by the FAO Council at its 143rd Session in 2011. Food and Agricultural Policy Decision Analysis (FAPDA Web-based Tool)

The FAPDA web-based tool is one of the major components of FAPDA activities. The tool was developed in 2011 with the support of the Government of the Kingdom of Spain so as to provide an electronic repository for food and agriculture policy decisions.
 The aim is to serve all stakeholders such as governments, development partners, regional economic organizations, civil society organizations, researchers, policy makers and the private sector.
