Butterfly Conservation Action Plan of Sri Lanka 2014

This strictly conservation-focused action plan addresses butterfly pollinators due to their high level of diversity and endemism in Sri Lanka. Although not explicitly pollination-oriented, the document highlights the pollination services that butterflies provide. The main objectives of the plan are to assess the state of current knowledge on butterfly fauna in Sri Lanka, review the conservation status of and threats to Sri Lankan butterfly species, and propose conservation recommendations. These recommendations include the promotion of butterfly breeding, the reduction of habitat destruction, the creation of a national database of species-specific knowledge, conducting taxonomical, ecological, and conservation research, and raising awareness through trainings, workshops, and communication materials.
