Needs assessment workshop underway in Djibouti

24/05/2022

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is currently carrying out a workshop in Djibouti to better understand the country’s capacity to effectively implement the 2009 FAO Agreement on Port State Measures (PSMA) and, consequently, highlight needs that require additional attention.

Thirty participants, from different national agencies and authorities involved in the country’s efforts to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, are participating.

The workshop forms part of a wider regional approach under FAO’s Global Capacity Development Programme, to strengthen the capacity of Somalia, Kenya, Eritrea, and Djibouti to combat IUU fishing.

The workshop is being funded by FAO under the project TCP/SFE/3805 which started in 2021.
