3rd Regional Coordination Meeting for Asia

Officials from 12 Asian States and 3 regional fishery bodies gathered for a meeting in Davao, the Philippines, to discuss the coordinated implementation of the FAO Agreement on Port State Measures (PSMA) and complementary instruments to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
They identified critical elements and actions required to strengthen port, flag and coastal State responsibilities defined in the respective treaties and international guidelines, at national and regional level.
This was the second in a new series of Regional Coordination Meetings (RCMs), organised by the PSMA Secretariat. The outcomes of the RCMs will be shared for consideration by the technical working groups established by the Parties to the PSMA, together with other international fisheries fora including the FAO Committee on Fisheries (COFI).
The Regional Coordination Meeting held in the Philippines was held under the patronage of the Philippines Bureau for Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and funded by the European Union.
