The complex nature of IUU fishing requires a concerted action at national, regional and global level.
At times, institutions implementing capacity development and donors may not have access to information providing them with a comprehensive picture of past, ongoing, and planned capacity development activities carried out by other agencies.
The Global Capacity Development Portal, developed by FAO with the support of the European Union and the Government of Sweden, is intended to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and information in respect to activities implemented around the world, with the aim of supporting States to improve their capacity to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. In doing so, the objective is to promote synergies, complementarities, coordination and exchanges among relevant programmes, projects, and institutions, whilst avoiding overlapping and the duplication of interventions.
A Webinar will be held, on 12 April 2022 at 12:00h CEST, on Zoom, to raise awareness about the objectives of the Portal and inform entities about the benefits of using it, to submit information about projects and to search existing information. The Webinar will be held in English, with interpretation to French and Spanish.
