FAO Nicaragua is closing this year the programme “Indigenous Seeds bank from the Alto Wangki Bocay,” which has been developed in a remote and isolated area of the country, where Miskita and Mayagna Peoples have their territories. Its main objective was to ensure the availability and access to basic local seeds, and to supply the self-consumption needs of these foods, as well as thier commercialization. The programme has closed with very positive outcomes.
