Syrian Arab Republic

SMALL RUMINANT POPULATION (goat-sheep): 2.495.961 - 17.919.322
EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SITUATION FIRST/LAST OUTBREAK: The latest PPR survey was in 2014 and 5000 samples were collected from most of Syrian provinces. All suspected cases were negative and there are no confirmed cases.
CONTROL ACTIVITIES: No PPR vaccination policy is in place. A national contingency plan exists in case of the disease enters into the country.

Kazakhstan

SMALL RUMINANT POPULATION (goat-sheep): 2.311.203 - 15.480.635
EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SITUATION FIRST/LAST OUTBREAK: First PPR outbreak in 2004. Territory conditionally divided into 2 free of PPR zones with vaccination and without vaccination. PPR vaccinations are performed in Almatinskaya, Zhambylskaya, South Kazakhstan regions.
CONTROL ACTIVITIES: Almost 9 million heads of small ruminants were vaccinated in 2016 in Almatinskaya, Zhambylskaya, South-Kazakhstan regions using vaccines of strain «G-45 MK» produced by the Scientific-Research Institute of biological safety problem of Kazakhstan.

Kyrgyzstan

SMALL RUMINANT POPULATION (goat-sheep): 856.904 - 5.165.650
CONTROL ACTIVITIES: In 2013, 954 vaccinations have been carried out. In 2014 and 2015 were vaccinated respectively 1056 and 1436 animals. Up until January 2016 in the republic more than 5.6 thousand heads have been vaccinated.

Tajikistan

SMALL RUMINANT POPULATION (goat-sheep): 1.985.526 - 3.505.739
EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SITUATION FIRST/LAST OUTBREAK: PPR was first documented in 2004. The disease is endemic.
CONTROL ACTIVITIES: PPR vaccinations are ongoing every year with low vaccination coverage.

Türkiye

SMALL RUMINANT POPULATION (goat-sheep): 10.416.166 - 31.507.934
EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SITUATION FIRST/LAST OUTBREAK: Many oubreaks reported each year from 2010.
CONTROL ACTIVITIES: Vaccination is carried out for all animals and animals are identified with an ear tag and registered. The main goal of the eradication programme is to achieve PPR free status in Thrace region, to decrease the incidence of the disease in Anatolia subsequently following the national eradication programme for a complete PRR frees status. To achieve this in 2016 all animals in Thrace and Anatolia have been vaccinated, the newborn ( 3 months old) but also non vaccinated adults in areas never affected by PPR cases also received vaccines.
