Turkmenistan

SMALL RUMINANT POPULATION (goat-sheep): 2.380.024 - 14.061.343
EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SITUATION FIRST/LAST OUTBREAK: No clinical evidence of PPRV in Turkmenistan. However the risk of PPR introduction are in the Mary and Lebap regions along the border with Afghanistan, as well as Akhal and Balkan regions along the border with Iran.
CONTROL ACTIVITIES: From 2015 vaccinations are carried out in a buffer zone along the border with Afghanistan and Iran. Number of vaccinated animal in 2016 was 1 117 888.

Mauritania

SMALL RUMINANT POPULATION (goat-sheep): 6.207.476 - 9.600.982
EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SITUATION FIRST/LAST OUTBREAK: PPR reported for the first time in 1985. Higher prevalence in the southern part of the country.
CONTROL ACTIVITIES: Vaccination campaign supported by the World Bank-funded project, Regional Sahel Pastoralism Support Project (PRAPS) in the southern regions of the country where livestock markets take place frequently and during periods at risk such as cold season, transhumant periods or religious holidays.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Livestock farming types: pastoral (nomadic or transhumance) and sedentary (rural sedentary and urban sedentary). Also exports of live animals to Mali, Senegal and Gambia.

Egypt

SMALL RUMINANT POPULATION (goat-sheep): 4.118.917 - 5.639.551
EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SITUATION FIRST/LAST OUTBREAK: PPRV officially found in a sheep farm in 2012. Between 2013 and 2017, at least 35 outbreaks were reported every year. Epidemiological surveillance consists in passive and active surveillance and rapid response for any notification with sampling and movement control.
CONTROL ACTIVITIES: Ring vaccination in area of 2 km around the suspected outbreak. Since 2017, PPR control is based on massive vaccination during 3 years followed by vaccination of newly born lambs during 2 years.

Bangladesh

SMALL RUMINANT POPULATION (goat-sheep): 25.093.000 - 5.047.000
EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SITUATION FIRST/LAST OUTBREAK: First outbreak in 1993 in the border belt area of south-western districts. PPR can be found in the whole region throughout the year especially in post winter months. Recently prevalence of disease has been recorded in western and northern part of the country. Currently, according to PPR GEP, country is in stage 2.
CONTROL ACTIVITIES: Targeted vaccination have been conducted in high-density goat sub-districts such as Jessore, Chuadanga, Meherpur and Kustia.

Bhutan

SMALL RUMINANT POPULATION (goat-sheep): 41.983 - 11.410
EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SITUATION FIRST/LAST OUTBREAK: Fist PPR outbreaks reported in June 2010 in Chukha. Between 2013 and 2016, other outbreaks were reported in Sarpang, Chukha Dagana and Gelephu. The last PPR outbreak was in March 2018 in Chukha
CONTROL ACTIVITIES: Vaccination campaigns started in 2016 based on risk assessment. National Strategic Plan is been prepared in line with FAO/OIE GCES.
