منذ ثلاث سنوات تقريبًا، وافق قادة العالم على خطة الأمم المتحدة للتنمية المستدامة لعام 2030 وأهداف التنمية المستدامة السبعة عشر التي تمثل الإطار المركزي لتوجيه السياسات الإنمائية في جميع أنحاء العالم. ويهدف هذا الإصدار من حالة الغابات في العالم إلى تعزيز فهمنا لكيفية مساهمة الغابات وإدارتها المستدامة في تحقيق العديد من أهداف التنمية المستدامة. وإنّ الوقت يداهم الغابات في العالم: ويجدر بنا أن نعمل على نحو يشمل جميع القطاعات وأن نجمع أصحاب المصلحة معًا وأن نتخذ إجراءات عاجلة.
