本框架旨在促进粮食和农业生物多样性的可持续利用和保护。它包含 50 多项独立行动，并划分在三个战略优先领域中：特征鉴定、评估和监测； 管理；以及体制框架。
本出版物首次对全球粮食和农业生物多样性进行了全球评估，包括作物、畜牧、森林和水生生产系统内部及周边在遗传、物种和生态系统层面上的植物、动物及微生物。
随着气候变化的加速，保护、特征鉴定以及可持续利用粮食和农业遗传资源空前重要。本出版物探讨了气候变化对遗传资源的影响以及遗传资源对适应和减缓气候变化的意义。
本文确定了农业粮食体系中改善生物多样性和膳食的切入点，如遗传资源的可持续利用、气候智能型农业、海洋生态系统的可持续管理和消费者教育。
本报告重点介绍了关于土壤、土地和水的主要风险和趋势，并提出了解决用户之间竞争以及为人们和环境创造多重利益的方法。
