Webinar - Pulses for Food Security and Nutrition
This webinar hosted the FAO experts Teodardo Calles and Fernanda Grande who presented the benefits of pulses from an agro-ecological and nutritional perspective. The presentations of the two experts were followed by a question and answer session which allowed participants to engage in a brief round of discussion.

Patricia Juárez: Legumbres contribuyen al cambio climático fijando nitrógeno al suelo
La FAO designó a Patricia Juárez embajadora especial para el Año Internacional de las Legumbres (AIL) en representación de América Latina y el Caribe. Juárez, originaria del estado mexicano de Oaxaca, es ingeniera agrónoma, y agricultora familiar del frijol y del maíz. Durante todo el 2016 ayudó a los países de la región a incrementar la producción y el comercio de legumbres, además de promover prácticas innovadoras. Naciones Unidas proclamó el AIL en reconocimiento al papel fundamental que juegan las legumbres en la seguridad alimentaria y nutricion

Ce magazine a été produit pour attirer l’attention des auditeurs sur l’importance des légumineuses dans la lutte contre la malnutrition. Le Sud-Ouest du Burkina Faso est une zone excédentaire, malheureusement la malnutrition sévit. Ce magazine encourage la consommation des produits locaux, en rajoutant notamment des légumineuses. Il s’agit également de souligner l’importance des légumineuses au plan nutritionnel, alimentaire et écologique.
