FAO promotes quinoa during its 38th Conference

FAO is organizing a series of events to promote quinoa during its 38th Conference, giving staff and delegates the opportunity to taste specific dishes. Also, presentations and discussions will be held on quinoa related themes led by experts from FAO, Slow Food and Altromercato.

Discussions will include an exchange of ideas on how to: support the sustainable production of quinoa; highlight its nutritional value, stress its cultural value and promote the use of quinoa in gastronomy.

This event wishes to:

  • Raise awareness of Permanent Representatives and other stakeholders attending the FAO Conference on the role of quinoa in food security and the eradication of poverty.
  • Strengthen dialogue among Member States and other stakeholders, including civil society and private sector, on the need for the sustainable development of the cultivation of quinoa nationally and globally.
