The conference, COVID-19 and rural poverty: actions for an inclusive recovery, featured opening remarks and comments by Julio Berdegué, FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Carolina Trivelli, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Peruvian Studies (IEP)
Benjamin Davis, Leader of FAO's Strategic Programme for Rural Poverty Reduction
 
The FAO Online Conferences - COVID-19 Series are part of the agreement made between 11 international organizations present in the region to coordinate their actions and provide technical support to governments to face the pandemic.
 
FAO, together with the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), has already launched six weekly bulletins of Analysis and Responses of Latin America and the Caribbean to the effects of COVID-19 on food systems, and maintains an updated web portal with the most relevant information on the pandemic.
