The Implicationsof Social Farming for Rural Poverty Reduction
On 15 December 2014, FAO in collaboration with the University of Pisa organized a Technical Workshop on The Implications of Social Farming for Rural Poverty Reduction. The workshop formed part of the broader programme of work on social farming under FAO’s Strategic Programme 3 on Reducing Rural Poverty and in particular of its outcome on formulating and implementing policies. Preceding the workshop, FAO in collaboration with the University of Pisa developed a background concept paper on Social Farming for Rural Poverty Reduction and organized an online discussion on Social farming (also called care farming): an innovative approach for promoting women’s economic empowerment, decent rural employment and social inclusion.
