Jun 2021

The Rome Based Agencies (RBA) Resilience Initiative is a joint project carried out by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP). Nutrition-related activities are implemented by WFP, while FAO is responsible for activities related to agriculture, livestock and natural resources. UNICEF is also responsible for supporting FAO in setting up a water management committee for the water catchment.

To strengthen the resilience of livelihoods in Somaliland, FAO is supporting different livelihood and income-generating activities in Togdheer region by carrying out trainings and providing tools and agricultural inputs (seeds, tools).

Some activities FAO is implementing include: beekeeping apiaries; soil regeneration, fodder activities (soil bands and fodder) and fodder sheds; farmer field schools; market gardens; kitchen gardens; tree nurseries; constructing water catchments and Prosopis management.
