Supporting self-sufficiency in South Sudan

Feb 2018

As South Sudan grapples with the consequences of long-term conflict, the distribution of essential items like food to mitigate shocks to the most vulnerable is no longer the only approach needed and calls for a need to innovate new strategies to address chronic food and nutrition problems in the country.

The Building Resilience through Asset Creation and Enhancement (BRACE) II project being implemented jointly by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and World Food Programme (WFP, through financial support from UKAID, was designed to sustainably change community food security and livelihoods. This video highlights this innovative project which increased resilience to climate variability and extremes and mitigated localized resource conflicts through creation and enhancement of shared community assets, as well as increased and diversified agriculture production.
