RegLitter Virtual Regional Meeting
The RegLitter project aims to prevent and reduce sea-based marine plastic litter (SBMPL) within the Asia region and as also the GloLitter Partnerships project falls under the OceanLitter Programme in the IMO. To achieve this goal IMO and FAO implement the project together and partner with six countries from Asia (India, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Viet Nam). Confirmation from other countries is expected and Indonesia is a focus country for this expansion.
The RegLitter Virtual Regional Meeting will be held online on Tuesday 29 April 2025, and will aim to bring together participating countries and stakeholders to finalize the Asia twinning proposal which was developed in the GloLitter Regional Task Force Meeting held in Viet Nam in March 2024. The virtual meeting will also serve as a platform to exchange ideas and foster collaboration so the activities identified can be implemented under the RegLitter project. In particular, the meeting will aim to discuss the coordination of country roles, group activities, and collaboration mechanisms, and incorporate national perspectives to develop twinning activities into a more actionable framework.
