OceanLitter Programme Global Task Force Training and Workshop
The OceanLitter Programme, established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), houses projects which target the prevention and reduction of marine plastic litter from the maritime transport and fisheries sectors and are jointly implemented by IMO and FAO. It currently includes the GloLitter Partnerships and RegLitter projects and will also house the Plastic Reduction in the Oceans: Sustaining and Enhancing Actions on Sea-based Sources (PRO-SEAS) project that was recently approved by the Global Environmental Facility.
The OceanLitter Programme Global Task Force Training & Workshop will be held at the IMO Headquarters in London, United Kingdom, from 12 to 14 November 2025. It will bring together government representatives from the maritime and fisheries administrations, industry, academia, leading scientific experts and technology development leaders in sea-based sources of marine plastic litter. This Training & Workshop will focus on the theme of "From Commitment to Action on marine plastic litter from sea-based sources," which will cover a wide range of aspects related to sea-based sources of marine plastic litter, including global, regional and national regulations, research, technologies and innovative solutions, and the empowerment of women. The participants will also have an opportunity to attend a research and technology exhibition related to the sea-based sources of marine plastic litter during the coffee and lunch breaks.
