The Right to Food

Revolutionizing food education in youth for more sustainable food pathways

Events - 28.09.2021

Rome, 28 September 2021 - On 4th October 2021 at 12.00 PM (CET), FAO and UNICEF will host the masterclass “Revolutionizing food education in youth for more sustainable food pathways: A FAO-UNICEF masterclass on what you can do to be part of the change”. The event will take place online in the framework of the World Food Forum. On the day of the event, you will just have to connect to the platform and select the masterclass’ virtual room.

The masterclass will share with all the actors involved – from students to teachers, from parents to school food staff – FAO’s transformative vision for school food education. One that encourages and enables health-promoting and more sustainable food practices, highlighting how it can contribute to transforming food systems and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Young experts will illustrate the key concepts and principles needed to achieve this vision. Youth leaders, school staff and institutional representatives from across the world will share how they have applied these principles in their schools and communities, providing exciting real-life experiences and initiatives that can be replicated in different contexts.

The objective of the masterclass is to inspire youth, school staff and other stakeholders to be active agents of change in their own contexts, so participants will “walk out” full of ideas and excitement on how to play an active role in shaping their practices and school food environments in a healthier and more sustainable way.
