Interagency consultation of policy coherence on child labour in agriculture

05/09/2006

A second inter-agency meeting addressing the Development of Policy Coherence on Child Labour in Agriculture was held at FAO on 5th September 2005, following the first consultation organised by the ILO in Geneva in May 2006.

FAO, IFAD, IFAP, ILO, IPGRI/CGIAR and IUF were represented at this meeting which aimed to promote practical cooperation on child labour among organisations working in agriculture and rural development, to develop policy and programme activities, especially at the field level, and to plan for the World Day of Action against Child Labour in 2007 and beyond. The meeting featured presentations and discussions on ILO Global Report on Child Labour covering child labour terminology and statistics. Participating organisations discussed challenges and highlighted opportunities for joint work on these issues.
