FAO partners the G20 Presidency in mainstreaming food loss and waste reduction

In 2015, under the Presidency of Turkey, the G20 is emphasizing food loss and waste reduction as a contribution to sustainable food systems. The agenda includes interventions involving both high- and low-income countries in issues such as support to methodological measurement and improved small-scale storage, processing and transport facilities. The FoodDrinkEurope Congress is approaching! From 29 June to 3 July, European Food and Drink Week at EXPO Milano will provide the backdrop for FoodDrinkEurope’s congress in the European Union Pavilion of the Universal Exhibition. EXPO 2015 will focus on “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” and will run from May to October in Milan, Italy.

The F&BKP Knowledge Portal is a gateway to cutting-edge knowledge on food and nutrition security for experts. The initiative is part of the international development agenda of the Government of the Netherlands.


Innonatives – open platform for sustainability

The sustainability platform innonatives connects actors with sustainability problems to actors who have found or would like to contribute to generating solutions. Sealed Air Corporation

Sealed Air Corporation participated in the recent Global Food Safety Initiative conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 3 to 5 March. The conference welcomed experts and representatives from food services, food retailers and food and beverage manufacturers from more than 60 countries to discuss the theme “Food Safety: A Shared Responsibility”.


Swedish Environmental Research Institute

A new Nordic Council of Ministers study indicates that food banks can significantly reduce food waste in the Nordic countries. Food banks in Europe serve more than 3 million meals each year – using food that would otherwise have been thrown away.


The Global FoodBanking Network

The 9th Annual Food Bank Leadership Institute convened an impressive group of more than 75 food bankers representing 35 countries, representatives from the World Food Programme (WFP) and FAO, numerous corporate supporters, and other thought leaders.


World Food Preservation Center

The Agricultural Research Organization in Israel has signed a memorandum of understanding forming a partnership with the World Food Preservation Center in the United States of America, with the goal of reducing post-harvest losses of food in developing countries.
