“Snooping into our soils” –The IYS2015 for National Science Week in the Wimmera
12 Aug 2015 - 26 Aug 2015
Children explore samples with soil samples brought from home.
They conduct physical and chemical tests, to see what happens to their soil sample when they:
add water – a drop, a blob, a layer
make a ‘soil shake’
mix with pH indicator solution.
They discover soils which:
do/not soak up water
do/not climb on top of water droplets and blobs
do/not bubble in water
make different layers when mixed with water and air (sand, silt, clay floating, plant bits floating)
This is Session 3 of a 4-session program funded in schools by the Wimmera Catchment Management Authority, and created for the schools by Jeanie Clark , enviroed4all® , Warracknabeal.
Location: Various locations, Victoria
