Opening of soil museum named after A.N. Panasenko in Ulyanovsk

Grand opening of a soil museum named after A.N. Panasenko (Father of the first soil museum in the Ulyanovsk Agricultural Institute – 1968…1974 г.) took place on February 4, 2015 in Ulyanovsk (the Ulyanovsk State Agricultural Academy, Agronomy Faculty) as part of the Festival of Science, under the umbrella of the International Year of Soils (IYS), with the participation of the Dokuchaev Soil Science Society.

Initiator - University administration of the Ulyanovsk State Agricultural Academy. Organizer - Office of Science and Innovation. Staff members of the Department of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Ulyanovsk State Agricultural Academy formed the soil museum.

The soil museum was established to decide issues of soil protection.

Exhibit of the soil museum consists of a collection of minerals and rock materials, 40 soil monoliths of the Ulyanovsk region. In the soil museum there are the following: history of establishment of Ulyanovsk branch of the Russian Dokuchaev Soil Science Society; and also -results of soil and environmental field trips; photos; documents connected with soils and soil scientists of the Ulyanovsk region.
