Scientific and Educational Project devoted to the World Day of Land and the International Year of Soils

Scientific and Educational Project devoted to the World Day of Land and the International Year of Soils took place on April 22, 2015 in Irkutsk (the Irkutsk State University).

As part of the project - staff members of the Department of Soil Studies and Land Evaluation of the Faculty of Biology and Soil Studies of the Irkutsk State University and Soil Museum organized and carried out the following events:

1. 5th  Scientific and Practical Conference for students “Soils and Ecology”

As a result: students with the best presentations were awarded with diplomas and gifts. 5 student works were recommended for publication in newsletter of the Irkutsk State University

2. 5th Regional Scientific and Practical Conference for schoolchildren “Soils and Ecology”

Participants were schoolchildren of high and secondary and primary school 

Schoolchildren got gifts

3. 1st Interregional Olimpiad for children and young people “Soil and Forest: Interrelation and Interaction”

Initiator of the olimpiad was the Dokuchaev Central Soil Museum, Saint Petersburg 

The olimpiad was organized for children of 2 age groups (primary school and secondary school) and consisted of 2 stages. 1st stage took place in educational organizations of the Irkutsk region and the Republic of Buryatia. 2nd stage – in Irkutsk

Children were awarded with diplomas (I,II,III degree) and gifts

Annual organization of the olimpiad is planned

As break time: Games - lessons for schoolchildren of primary school “What Do We Know About Soil?” were carried out. Children were making drawings using soil of different color instead paint.

Events were organized and carried out with the assistance of the Dokuchaev Central Soil Museum; Ministry of Nature Resources and Ecology of the Irkutsk region; Federal State Budgetary Institution (FSBI) «Заповедное Прибайкалье».
