Workshop “Soil Perception for Nature Guides“

Taking the international UN year of soils as a “hook” and starting point, Terolog intends to start a series of specialised further education soil - workshops for nature guides. This will take place in close cooperation with protected area`s administrations in Germany, Bulgaria and Albania. On order to direct people`s attention to soils and raise soil awareness, an adequate setting and qualified multipliers are needed. Guided hikes in protected areas provide an ideal setting of informal environmental education. Nature guides on the other hand, who offer guided hikes in protected areas, are ideal potential multipliers, to direct the attention of their guests to the soils existing in a certain area.

Thus, the project intends 
a) to awake the interest of nature guides to the soil – topic as a potential surplus for their guided tours.
b) will qualify nature guides – who already hold a general certificate for their specific protected area – to become motivated and sound supplier of soil – knowledge to their guests.
