World Soil Day- Egypt

In the framework of the activities of the Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University, in society services and Environmental Development, and within its strategic plan, the University seeks to enrich its scientific and cultural activities by celebrating the International Soil Day, dated 5 December 2015, that coincides with the reclamation of the United Nations’ General Committee that year 2015 is the International Year of Soil, aiming to raise the awareness of the civil societies and Policy makers of the basic importance of Soil for the livelihood of mankind, and also educating them on its role in Food Security, adaptation to climate change and reduction of its impacts, its basic service to the Ecological systems, reducing poverty, sustainable development, in addition to policies support and effective measures to protect Soil Resources and its sustainable management; encouraging investments in sustainable soil management activities.
