ECHA/EFSA Topical Scientific Workshop on Soil Risk Assessment

European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), in cooperation with European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), expects to host close to 200 experts in the field of soil risk assessment to brainstorm and develop updated scientific principles and approaches for assessing the ecological risks of chemical substances, including pesticides and biocides, released to/or reaching soil. The emphasis of the discussions will be on chemicals regulated under REACH and equivalent legislations in other jurisdictions, as well as on biocides, pesticides, plant protection products, pharmaceuticals, and will also cover the principles for the risk assessment from other environmental regulations. The discussions will be reinforced by information of the recent developments of risk and soil quality assessment methodologies applied in chemicals management and pollution control outside the EU.
