Svjetski dan zemljišta

Ministry of agriculture and rural development will donate various nursery plants (of different fruit sorts of apples and pears) to an elementary school "Savo Kažić" in the rural part of the Capital. The idea is to create a display garden which wold represent practical part of their biology and entrepreneurship class. Children will need to get familiar with the nature of soils in order to provide the care to the nursery plants. The idea is to start a project whose follow-up will be displayed on the celebration of World Soil Day 2016.

Another event is placed at the University of Donja Gorica where the Ministry of agriculture and rural development organizes a conference with distinguish members of academia, business sphere and government institutions. Conference attendees will be: members of diplomatic missions to Montenegro, mayors, ministers, students, members of academia and other institutions in Montenegro.

Minister Ivanovic will award special recognitions to members of media for the contribution given for promotion of agriculture and agribusiness in Montenegro. Furthermore, special awards will be given to winners of public call for best photography and journalist material on the topic: Agriculture- healthy soils for healthy life.

The goal of the event is to create full awareness of civil society about the fundamental roles of soils for healthy food, water quality and resilience to floods and droughts. The maintenance and enhancement of this global soil resource is essential if humanity’s need for food, water, and energy security is to be met. Thus, this year, Ministry has put the focus on healthy soils for healthy life.
