Workshop ''Soils of Viet Nam''

The Workshop will focus on three following major subjects: 

(i)Land resources of Vietnam, assessment of quantity and quality. 

a.Land quantity assessment: land areas of main soil types in Vietnam, their thickness, slope, capacity of using for different economic sectors, such as agro-forestry, urban development, infrastructure development…

b.Land quality assessment, such as soil nutrients, N, P, K, limiting factors to crops.

(ii)Current status of land using by different economic sectors, such as agro-forestry, urban development, residential land, industrial parks… 

a.Current status of land use of Vietnam in 2014.

b.Current status of land use in Agro-forestry.

c.Current status of land use in urban development and rural residence, special use land.

d.Current status of unused land.

(iii)Advantages, problems in land use and future challenges. 

a.Advantages and problems in land use in the future for different economic sectors, such as agro-forestry, special use and others.

b.Using and protecting cultivated land against climate change risks.

c.Land use measures for flat land, paddy land when the sea level raise. 

d.Agro-forestry land use in the risk areas being deserted and arid.  

e.Use of acid sulphate soils, saline soils and marine sandy soils. 

f.Intensified cultivation and nutrient balance in soils.

g.Cultivated land contamination in the suburban areas.
