Healthy and fertile soil is the basis of agriculture but in Benin the soil productivity decreases, because of high pressure on soils (overgrazing, deforestation, urbanization…). It is important to protect soils to avoid social damage (hunger, migrations, conflicts and eventually wars). Sustainable agriculture techniques are a solution.
The Ethiopean Soil Campaign represented a special model of multi-stake-holder sharing and learning around a critical development issue of our time. Both the lessons shared and the way in which they were shared have relevance for future development work.
