The 53rd UN Statistical Commission will take place virtually from 28 February-4 March 2022. The annual Commission provides an opportunity for FAO to inform the wider statistical community of the progress it has made over the past year and what lies ahead.
FAO’s statistical work and role to monitor the Sustainable Development Goals will be high on the agenda at the UN Statistical Commission (UNSC) at UN headquarters in New York, from 28 February to 4 March 2022. The highest decision-making body for international statistical standards, which will meet for its 53rd session, will bring together Chief Statisticians from Member States and international organizations from around the world.
In the margins of the week-long conference, FAO actively contributed to the discussions, including by organizing three side events:

In particular, FAO’s report on recent developments in Agricultural and Rural Statistics will be discussed by the Statistical Commission on Wednesday 2 March.
