Updates on Agricultural Science and Technology Indicators (ASTI) Data Collection 2025

12/08/2025

On 12 August, FAO and partners held the ASTI webinar “Updates on Agricultural Science and Technology Indicators (ASTI) Data Collection 2025.”

The Agricultural Science and Technology Indicators (ASTI) have been a global benchmark in agricultural research data collection for more than two decades. The indicators focus on investment and human capital in national agricultural research systems (NARS) and have been widely used to assess research performance and impact and to set policy and investment priorities to increase agricultural growth and productivity.

The session aimed to help participants complete the 2025 ASTI questionnaire, offering an overview of the project and practical guidance on its structure and content. It also shared updates on the global consultation on ASTI guidelines (UN-CEAG), introduced a new online platform for ASTI focal points, and included an open discussion to gather feedback and explore user needs.
