Among 230 global indicators were adopted as part of the new SDG framework. These indicators will help countries to measure the progress towards achieving objectives. However, many countries will need support to collect and analyse statistical information in a systematic way. To support countries to this task each indicator has been assigned a custodian agency that is responsible for collecting data from national sources, provide story line for annual global SDG progress report, provide and update the documentation and underlying methodologies but among other contribute to build country capacities to produce and report on these indicators.

It is expected that after the workshop participants become familiar with the methodology and tools developed by FAO to estimate the two SDG Target 2.1 indicators and understand the main steps needed to analyse the food and the FIES data collected in their respective surveys and are able to perform the food security analysis using ADePT-FSM.
