20/04/2021

23 March 2021 - UNIDO and FAO organized a high-level technical briefing on “3ADI+: the Accelerator for Agriculture and Agroindustry Development and Innovation Plus”, inviting Ministries of Agriculture and Ministries of Industry, FAO and UNIDO country offices, and representatives from international organizations in the Near East and North Africa region.

3ADI+ is a joint value chain and market systems development programme spearheaded by the two agencies. It aims to accelerate the sustainable transformation of food value chains and food systems, contributing to generating substantial economic, social, environmental and resilience impacts. The 3ADI+ programme is tool for operationalizing the way forward to sustainable transformation of Food Systems, by leveraging the skills, expertise and institutional strengths of two core UN agencies, and by facilitating governance and institutional ownership, alliance and accountability among key value chain stakeholders.

The event presented the 3ADI+ approach and its successful work on food value chains in three continents, alongside hearing different partner perspectives on the relevance of this accelerator to agribusiness development in NENA countries. The briefing was followed by a dialogue with participants to examine synergies with ongoing work, and discuss how 3ADI+ can be piloted in the NENA region.
