The Rules of Procedure of the Commission shall apply mutatis mutandis to its subsidiary bodies. (Rule XI.11)

| Purpose |
- To draft provisions on labelling applicable to all foods;
- to consider, amend if necessary, and endorse specific provisions on labelling proposed by the Codex Commodity Committees drafting commodity standards, in the codes of practices and in the guidelines;
- to study specific labelling problems assigned by the Commission; and
- to study problems in food advertisement, especially those dealing with claims and misleading descriptions.
