"We live and breathe in SDG 14". This statement by Terry Opa from the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) at the regional workshop for the Pacific dedicated to SDG 14.b - Provide access for small-scale artisanal fishers to marine resources and markets summarized the importance of the SDG 14 on Life under water for a region that consists to 98% of water. Representatives of 11 Pacific countries, regional organizations, academia and civil society gathered for the event which was opened by Semi Koroilavesau, Minister of Fisheries. The purpose of the workshop was to raise awareness of the SDG 14.b, as well as of related regional and global policy instruments, in particular SPC's New Song for the Pacific and the SSF Guidelines, and to strengthen capacities to collect and compile relevant data and report on the indicator SDG 14.b.1. We look forward to seeing strong Pacific countries reporting on SDG indicator 14.b.1 in the future!
