CFS Side Event: Realizing the right to food from oceans and inland waters: global, regional and national efforts

15/10/2018 - 15/10/2018 Rome, Italy

Around 20 participants from both the FAO and from delegations attending the ongoing Committee on Food Security (CFS) in FAO in Rome, Italy, came to listen and learn about how important small-scale fisheries and aquaculture are to food security and nutrition in developing regions especially.

Fisheries and aquaculture are often left aside when discussing nutrition, food security or the challenge of feeding a growing population. Yet, they play a key role. Hence, the side event highlighted the role and also the need for more data on the matter to help shape policies that ensure and increase people's access to eating nutritious fish and seafood.
