The inception workshop kick-started the development of a National Plan of Action for the implementation of the SSF Guidelines. Over 50 people attended the workshop, representing national  and local government, small-scale fisheries actors  from the major lakes, mainland Tanzania coastal areas and Zanzibar, support NGOs as well as international stakeholders and partners. This is the first time such a process is undertaken at the national level, so it will be a pilot from which other countries will also learn.
