The Regional Capacity Building Workshop to Empower African Women and Youth on the use of the FAO-Thiaroye Fish Processing Technique (FTT) aimed to build the capacity of African women and youth on food safety, fish post-harvest losses, fish handling and processing with a focus on the use of the FTT. The meeting included: six key presentations; working group discussions on the key lessons learned and the challenges related to the adoption of the FTT; and practical training sessions on FTT use and maintenance. The sessions also provided recommendations for future actions needed to promote and support the adoption of the FTT, initially but not exclusively in the countries represented at the workshop.
