WASAG – The Global Framework on Water Scarcity in Agriculture

WASAG Strategy for 2021-2024 - Turning water scarcity into opportunities for sustainable agriculture, food security and nutrition

The Global Framework on Water Scarcity in Agriculture (WASAG) has gained increasing recognition since its launch and the establishment of its partnership in April 2017. The commitment of its founding partners has led to the  progress made to date, confirming the relevance and pertinence of the Framework as it continues to attract new partners.

Thus, a strategy to guide the work of WASAG for the next four years (2021-2024) has become imperative.  It should build on the achievements of the four years of its existence in order to better respond to the expectations raised, including through the numerous endorsements received.

During the 26th and 27th  sessions of the Committee on Agriculture (COAG) held in 2018 and 2020 respectively, members countries have also given to WASAG the mandate to support them in addressing water scarcity in agriculture to cope with a changing climate.

The WASAG Strategy for 2021-2024 proposes a theory of change through which key action areas are identified, focused on collaborative solutions, building on the comparative advantages of its Partners.
