Launch of Agrifood systems Technologies and Innovation Outlook (ATIO)
Rome time
This event will introduce the FAO Agrifood Systems Technologies and Innovations Outlook (ATIO) - a key enabler for achieving the vision outlined in FAO’s first-ever Science and Innovation Strategy. ATIO’s overall objective is to curate existing information on the current, measurable state of agrifood system science, technology and innovation (STI) and upcoming changes, as well as their transformative potential, to inform evidence-based policy dialogue and decisions, including on investments. ATIO will supplement valuable data curation with horizon-scanning about pre-emergent and emergent agrifood system STI, with foresight about the impact pathways that various STIs under development might follow, and with syntheses of the available evidence on STI impacts. ATIO will track agrifood system STI progress at national level, and pay special attention to low- and middle-income countries where data challenges are particularly acute. The cross-border impacts of STI necessitate looking at all countries globally, not solely at national-level conditions, so ATIO will emphasize relevant STI wherever in the world it occurs.
